Career Awareness Program for entry level students
PG department of Commerce and placement cell of M.M. Modi College, Patiala organized Career Awareness Program for entry level students in association with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India on October 19, 2022.The guest speaker was CS Unnati Goel, Company Secretary Aggarsain Fibers Limited. Dr. Ajit, Controller of Examination, introduced the guest and extended a warm welcome to all present.
Principal, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, formally welcomed the guest and emphasised that it is the need of the hour to pursue professional courses along with the regular studies in order to harness opportunities in the job market.
The speaker, CS Unnati Goel, guided the students for pursuing CS along with regular Bachelor degree. She also discussed the eligibility criteria for the same. In her lecture, she highlighted the employment prospects for CS that every listed company and every private as well as public company having paid up share capital of 10 crore rupees or more is required to appoint a whole time company secretary under the Companies Act,2013 and CS are also designated as Key Managerial Personnel under the same law. Besides, as regards profile of practising company secretary, one topping charts is secretarial audit and is applicable to a certain class of Companies; which is an independent and objective assurance intended to add value and improve operations of the company. In addition to this, Certification services, valuation, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, GST, IPR, representation services and mediation and conciliation are certain other areas of opportunity.
The students of B.com first year and B.com honours first year attended the seminar. Prof. Neena Sareen, Dean and Head, PG Department of Commerce proposed a vote of thanks.
